Physical Bullying

Hits, kicks, or property damage - when to involve school, when to involve police.

Introduction

Physical bullying involves painful contact - punching, kicking, cornering, or damaging belongings. It is never just 'kids being kids.' Every child deserves to live without fear.

Signs

  • Bruises, scratches, or injuries your child won't explain.
  • Torn uniforms, missing or damaged school bags.
  • A sudden refusal to go to school.
  • Pocket money, supplies, or phones that keep "going missing".

What you can do

  1. Get medical care first if there is any injury.
  2. Document - photograph injuries, save torn clothes, note dates.
  3. Contact the school - class teacher, counsellor, or Principal.
  4. File a report on HeroFriends - repeated cases or injuries proceed to the Tribunal.

When to get help

For serious injuries or threats of physical harm, call 999 immediately. For support and a formal complaint, call 15999 or file a report on HeroFriends.

After you read

If you or someone you care about is going through this, you can file a confidential report. Every report is handled by trained HeroFriends officers under the Anti-Bullying Act 2026.
